“He Got Game” is a Spike Lee joint that gave the Jordan 13 its nickname and cinematic roll out. In the movie, Jake Shuttlesworth (played by Denzel Washington) decides to visit a tennis shoe store to find a pair of kicks. Immediately, the sales rep brings out the newly released Jordan 13 for Jake to try on. Jake was instantly impressed by how unique the style of the shoe is. Jake is handed the left sneaker so he could see if it was a perfect fit. Jake was confused about where to find the holes to lace his shoes. This very scene showed how futuristic Jordan designs were (and still are) compared to anything else. Last time released in 2013, the Jordan Retro 13 ”He Got Game” is back better than ever.
Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the retro 13’s have 3 features that make this shoe a must-have: claw-like outsole, premium leather, and the round jewel.
Claw-like outsole – similar to panther paws, the white outsole stands out significantly on the shoe. The added black provides needed contrast to make the white sections pop. A finishing touch of red outlining the bottom sole is a necessary edition.
Premium leather – Nothing says luxury like leather. The midsole is solid black, while the upper is white leather. Detailed stitching reminds me of an expensive living room couch. With plump padding on the sides, the leather gives a firm yet soft texture.
Round jewel – changing notable logo’s, the round gem has an image of the Jumpman sign along with MJ’s jersey number 23. This is one of the coolest features ever made on a sneaker.
The Jordan Retro 13 will be out 08/04/2018 on www.dtlr.com and at select DTLR locations. Be sure to cop your pair while they are still available.
