The Femme Fatale Comedy Show presented by DTLR Radio’s own Comedian Ty Davis from The Morning After Show was a success! Sunday night in Parkville, Maryland an all-female line up of stand-up comedians, strategically put together by Ty Davis, gathered together to deliver just over two hours of funny from the women’s perspective. Ty Davis, considered a “New Jack” comedian herself, commissioned Gina Yashere as the headliner. Yashere is fresh off her newly released Netflix comedy special and travels globally showcasing her comedic talent. Her career spans over twenty years with credits on Def Comedy Jam, Last Comic Standing, Live at the Apollo and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah just to name a few. This show was designed to pay homage to the strength and power of women, enhance Ty’s producer and comedian brand, and assemble a team of one of Ty’s favorite comedians and showcase the up and coming artists of the DMV.
The featured act Paris Sashay out of Washington D.C., now by way of New York City, is stylized as the “Eve of Comedy” or “Petty Consultant”. She’s a comedienne, actor, producer and motivational speaker known for her super cool laid-back personality and infectious laugh. She’s featured for Michael Che’, Domonique, and the late great Dick Gregory among many others. It’s no secret that Ty is a fan and esteemed colleague of Paris as she was part of the line up of Ty’s first comedic production. A couple years ago before making her DC Improv debut, Paris was assaulted by several men because she ignored their cat-calling and was left with a broken nose and knocked out teeth. She persevered after the incident speaking out on the verbal and physical harassment many women face daily and is a pillar of strength in the D.C. community.
Crystal Tabron, professionally known as Crys-Styles, is the former co-worker of Ty and contributor to why Ty began a career in stand-up comedy. Having spent many days at work goofing around, the pair decided to add doing an open mic to their bucket lists. Ty did not take the action serious, but Crys-Styles did her showcase and Ty saw the performance and congratulated her for a job well done. Adamant that Ty honor the bucket list pact, she then connected Ty with a known veteran comedian and producer in Baltimore that gave Ty her first shot at comedy. She ultimately fell in love at first touch of the mic and has been chasing the dream of stardom since then.
Rhonda Cann, stage name Maria Sanchez, was one of the first women comics Ty met when she started to venture out in search of the Baltimore comedy scene. They refer to each other as comedy BFFs sharing a huge love and respect for the craft. Maria is a unique, no-holds barred, witty comedian with an arsenal of punchlines that incorporate her subjective experiences with her hometown’s distinctive culture. Her ability to draw in the crowd through descriptive story-telling is one of the reasons she was a terrific addition to the show.
The sold-out crowd of people from Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Washington D.C., and even Canada witnessed the ladies bring down Sully’s Comedy Cellar from start to finish. It was hosted by Ty Davis, music provided by DJ PChris, and all photography done by Mikael Aaron Photography and Photos R US. DTLR, DTLR Radio and R&G Entertainment served as sponsors to assist in making the show a sold-out success. With two comedic productions under Ty’s belt, the question that remains is when is the next show? Make sure to tune in to The Morning After Show on DTLR Radio Monday through Friday from 11am-2pm EST to stay in the know and check out the photos from the event to see what you missed!
