The Cool Grey 11 Returns This Weekend

The long wait is finally over. After 11 (what feels like eternity) years the Air Jordan 11 Cool Grey Retros are back. Some would even say these are the release of the year and I honestly don’t disagree. They’re one of the most sought-after retros that aren’t an originally released colorway. The 11’s in general are iconic sneakers for several reasons. One, it’s the first time patent leather has ever been used and two, it’s the first shoe to use a carbon fiber shank plate which at the time helped Jordan deal with ailing foot pain. Let’s dive into more about the Cool Grey Retros which release on Saturday, December 11.

Right off the bat, one of the first things you’ll notice with this release is the cut of the patent leather. A higher cut line is used for this release compared to the previous 2010 release. This falls more in line with the original Air Jordan 11 design. Another distinct design difference between previous releases is the soles. A Blue-tinted translucent sole is featured on this release versus a more Yellow sole used on previous releases. There’s one more small detail that’s different and that is that the Jumpman logo on the heel is forward-facing rather than rear-facing. Other than these differences, this release is pretty identical to previous releases featuring Cool and Medium Grey throughout the entire uppers atop White midsoles. The uppers (outside of the patent leather) are comprised of super-soft nubuck which gives the pair a premium feel.

I don’t know about you, but I’m already in line for the December 11th drop. Like I said earlier, these are the Jordan drop of the year which means everyone will be going after a pair. They’ll release in a full family size run with the men’s retailing for $225. With a major release like this, you’ll want to stay on top of our social and blog for the latest raffle and release information. Best of luck to you all in securing your pair!
