Nobody cares about the truth when the lie is more entertaining. This is the quote that Charlamagne consistently recite when discussing Hollywood rumors or conspired propaganda. Yes, being realistic can be boring to most who are looking for juicy gossip. Most want to listen to mind-boggling topics from insiders which makes the media world go around. While media personalities and socialites continue to show their devilish ways by keeping the lie conversational, Charlamagne is speaking the ‘God’s Honest Truth’. Airing on Comedy Central, the charismatic commentary is a combination of “The Colbert Report” and “Chapelle Show”. The setup has a “Peace to the Planet” aesthetic with a news reporter desk that is shaped like a flying saucer. Surrounding this space are high-definition screens showing descriptive visuals to highlight each point made in the script. A live studio audience claps in nonstop laughter at Charlamagne punchlines that have great timing.
As part of “The Breakfast Club”, C that God is a bonafide public figure who asks hard-hitting questions to special guests. When podcasting, his welcoming exchange with Andy Schultz proves why he is truly a ‘Brilliant Idiot’. Even back when he was providing commentary alongside Lil Duval on “Guy Code”, C has always been the breakout star. Nevertheless, his first attempt sharing his “Uncommon Sense” had a 3 season run before it was canceled. Charlamagne’s time away from primetime television has allowed him and his trailblazing team to bring a new take on a talk show this goes around. Due to his uncensored reputation, he pushes the envelope in an articulate way that is filled with historic facts and logical theories. There’s always a method to his madness that makes the show different from anything else on T.V. One of my favorite parts is when “85 South Show Podcast” member and “Wild’n Out” OG Chico Bean provides comedic relief in every segment he’s featured in. Overall, the show is unapologetically Black and proud to share the culture with viewers to listen, learn, and level up.
