A Closer Look At The Air Jordan 5 Orange Blaze

We first saw this colorway in an Air Jordan 1 Retro back in 2015 which was appropriately nicknamed, “shattered backboard”. Now, you may be wondering why a pair of White Orange and Black Air Jordans acquires the name “shattered backboard which isn’t an uncommon question to be asking. The answer, back in 1985 Jordan threw down a monstrous dunk overseas wearing a White Orange, and Black uniform which of course, shattered the backboard. Now, the shattered backboards are back, but in the form of an Air Jordan 5 Retro. It is worth noting that the official name from Jordan Brand for this pair is “Orange Blaze”.

This isn’t your ordinary pair of Air Jordan 5’s as there are several subtle and obvious differences between this pair and the others. For starters, the plastic gate (as I like to call it) extends from the midfoot all the way back and around the heal exposing the skeleton of the shoe which features a padded ankle collar. This striking design feature really elevates the overall appearance of the shoe. The uppers are predominately comprised of genuine leather and colored in White but it appears to be more of a Creamy White than a True White. The midsole sports both Black and Total Orange with Cement teeth. And as you would expect, traditional Gum soles mixed with Black give this pair it's footing. A Total Orange Jumpman on a Silver reflective tongue and a Black Jumpman on the heel complete the look.

If you missed the Shattered Backboard 1’s in 2015, don’t sleep on another chance to own a pair soaked in Michael Jordan history. The Air Jordan 5 Retro Orange Blaze officially releases on Saturday, September 2nd, and will retail for $190. Be sure to follow our social and bookmark our blog for the latest raffle and release info.
