Run With New Hues: Air Jordan Retro 4 'Taupe Haze'

This new Air Jordan Retro 4 delivers a strikingly familiar colorway with rare designs for the true sneaker fans.

Tinker Hatfield had big shoes to fill, literally. As he set out to design the next Air Jordan model he knew that the popularity of the previous model, the Air Jordan 3, was going to be tough to beat. The 3's are what saved Nike and Jordan’s relationship. They brought ultimate style with a mix of streets to the court. Advanced tech with the visible air pocket. It was the shoe that put the Jordan franchise on the map, or at least it was until Hatfield finished what is arguably the most popular Jordan model in the franchise’s history, the Air Jordan IV.

Thirty-two years later Jordan Brand is still riding the Air Jordan 4 wave with the latest retro release landing on February 27th. The pair has a striking resemblance to several previously released colorways such as the “Mushrooms” and Travis Scott’s “Olive” edition. Taupe Haze consumes a majority of the sneaker’s uppers in a distressed, almost suede-like, material. Rumors have circulated that the toe box may even rub away to reveal an underlying color, but nothing has been confirmed, yet. Hits of Oil Grey used for the lace holders, heel tab, and the forefoot section of the midsole and sole provide a nice contrast to the overall tone of the shoe. Off White finishes off the midsole giving the pair a nice splash of color balance. An Infrared 23 Jumpman can be found on the tongue while the same mark in Taupe Haze is found on the heel tab.

Overall, the Air Jordan 4 Retro 'Taupe Haze' is a clean shoe mainly meant for casual wear and is a must-have in the daily sneaker rotation. The fact that it resembles some of the more highly coveted Air Jordan IV colorway releases makes this release a bit more sought-after than your average drop.
