A Closer Look: Air Jordan Retro 1 OG 'Pine Green'

Peter Moore, the Air Jordan 1 designer, noticed a kid sporting a pair of plastic replica pilot wings given to him by the flight crew. Intrigued by the overall design, Moore started doodling ideas on a napkin mid-flight that eventually lead to what we now refer to as the iconic “Wings” logo.

Continuing their legacy, the next Air Jordan 1 retro will drop in a Black/White-Pine Green-Gym Red color scheme and feature the iconic wings logo mentioned above. This colorway, while not an original colorway, is not a new scheme for Jordan Brand. Over the past several years similar Pine Green Jordan 1’s have released in all three cuts (lows, mids, and highs). This pair, however, is the first of the Pine Green family to follow the two-tone color scheme that made the Air Jordan 1 so popular.

The 'Pine Green' Air Jordan Retro 1 OG will release on February 29 and feature a mix of premium tumbled leather which is a textured and more durable leather. Pine Green is used for the swoosh, toebox, ankle flaps, heel panels, and sole while the rest of the legendary shoe is black except for the white midsole. The iconic wings logo is also black. The only other color you’ll find on this pair is on the tongue. “Nike Air” along with Nike’s “Check” logo is in gym red.

With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, these are the perfect pair to complete your look.

The Air Jordan Retro 1 OG 'Pine Green' is set to drop February 29th at dtlr.com and at select DTLR store locations.
