Rihanna Taking On New Responsibilities in her Homeland

As of late, Rihanna has been quiet in the realm of music. She has taken to endeavors that will solidify her future by tapping into passions other than music that includes fashion, cosmetics, and philanthropy.

This past weekend Rihanna received big news from her homeland of Barbados. At the young age of 30, she has demonstrated such poise and passion for her native land that has allowed her the opportunity to become the official Ambassador, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, of Barbados.

While Rihanna has already been an unofficial spokesperson and cultural ambassador in the past, she has willingly and humbly stepped into this honor in hopes of making an even bigger impact on a community so dear to her heart.

The Barbados Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley noted that Rihanna has displayed “significant creative acumen and shrewdness in business” as well as “global influence across a much broader range of areas”. In other words, Rihanna has shown great decision making that will affect the greater good of the Barbados community. Mottley also made note of Rihanna’s award-winning music career and her compassionate drive to raise millions of dollars, not only for the island of Barbados but communities internationally also.

Rihanna’s goals align with those that have driven her foundation, “The Clara Lionel Foundation” (founded in 2012) for years. Named after her forgiving, caring, and strong grandparents, Rihanna’s goals as an ambassador stay true to what she is already working hard to accomplish.

Her objective is to expand investments, education, and tourism throughout the island which will help build a better economy and countless opportunities for children and adults alike.

Being the ambassador will help Rihanna make a greater difference in Barbados, giving her more freedom to do good with the government working hand in hand with her, but she admits that she can not do it alone.

“I couldn’t be more proud to take on such a prestigious title in my home country,” said Rihanna, going on to state, “Every Barbadian is going to have to play their role in this current effort, and I’m ready and excited to take on the responsibility. I look forward to working with Prime Minister Mottley and her team to reimagine Barbados.”

While Rihanna’s celebrity is was she is most known for now, it is clear to see that her philanthropy will be what she is remembered for in the future. She has gracefully left her ego aside and unlike many others in her position, spent countless dollars and more importantly time to help those who need it. She has been selfless in her efforts and genuine when connecting with communities. She has displayed such compassion through her years by doing all in her power to make a better life for many other countries in need of support. Barbados is lucky to have her, and undoubtedly will succeed with Rihanna in the lead and a country with unlimited potential at the ready.
