The ‘Degrassi’ Classmates Reunite for Drake’s Video “I’m Upset”

Looks like the Canadian rapper needed some hometown love to fuse out all the hip-hop beef. Watch the hilarious video of his new song, featuring his old cast mates from the hit teen drama Degrassi below:

Man, Drake came such a long way! From wheeling through the halls of Degrassi High after a tragic gunshot incident to taking major rap highs and lows in the music industry, his story is quite the come up.

When Drake first started his rap career, he was eager to stamp his mark in the music industry by ditching the Jimmy references and old memories as his time as a teenage actor. Now that Drake’s fame has hit an all-time high as one of the biggest rap stars in the world, we almost forget about his moments on the young adult “soap opera” star. Fortunately, we all got a chance to revisit the early 2000s in Drake’s new video “Im Upset.” For a very short period of time, Drake’s child-actor roots seemed like a good enough reason to not take him seriously as a successful rapper. It was magical.

The video, directed by Karena Evans (who also directed Drake’s excellent videos for “God’s Plan” and “Nice For What”), was a turgid-angst high school reunion at Degrassi High. To capture the incredible moments, all of the show’s stars were also in attendance. Lauren Collins (Paige Brooks), Nina Dobrev (Mia Jones), Ephraim Ellis (Rick Murray), Shane Kippel (Gavin “Spinner” Mason) and others — even Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith (in character as Jay and Silent Bob) sell pot to the principal, who raps some lines from Drake’s song “Motto.” It’s safe to say Drake has the biggest transformation as he pulls up to the gymnasium in a Lamborghini and a fitted suit.

Sure enough, as the region starts to really reach a new level of entertainment, things get a little crazy. Watch below:
