With a whirlwind of musical news, performances, and appearances taking place this week, Beyonce, Cardi B and Nicki Minaj are at the forefront as they ignite their fans with huge headlines.
Cardi B has continued to stay in the news after the drop of her first studio album Invasion of Privacy. Her album was much anticipated by fans and critics, all eager to see how Cardi would perform outside of her championed realm of the “trap” mixtape. Cardi has shown great strides in making complete records, explaining to Ebro on Beats1 Radio “I need to break that shell (drill like/repetitive sound). I need to flow a little bit easier and cleaner”. Although Cardi admits that she has yet to perfect all her skills, she does tell Ebro that she has gotten much better.
While Cardi’s album is currently debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 Chart, she has made quite the media run by performing on SNL (where she revealed her baby bump), hosting The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and performing at Coachella. Her soon to be baby with rapper/fiancé, Offset (from the group Migos), is quite possibly the biggest news for this week, especially after denying rumors during her Beats 1 interview just days before the reveal.
Regardless of when Cardi disclosed such a delicate part of her life or not, she is clearly on a great run as she gains more momentum in the industry and continues to be vulnerable and showing more her true self than ever imagined.
In the midst of Cardi’s success, Nicki Minaj headed to Beats 1 Radio to discuss a rebirth of herself, so to speak, with Zane Lowe. In the interview, Nicki discusses some major topics in the calmest and most level-headed way including Cardi B, Meek Mill, and her hiatus from music and social media.Fans have heard and saw very little of the leading lady of rap since the release of The Print Print album in 2014, but Nicki explains it was necessary for her to begin a complete social reset, included changing her phone number and deactivating all social media. By doing so, Nicki claims to have been able to make the best music of her life.
With a new album and documentary on the way, Nicki gave fans a taste of what is to come by releasing two new tracks titled “Barbie Tingz” and “Chun-Li” last week. “Barbie Tingz” is currently sitting at number 5 on iTunes Top 10.
Despite outstanding news and music from Cardi B and Nicki Minaj, Beyonce shocked the world with her multi-tiered performance at Coachella this weekend.
After turning down her performance last year due to being pregnant with twins, the BeyHive was unsure if they would receive the performance they yearned for, but Beyonce delivered.
Her heart-stopping performance included a reunion with Destiny’s Child, a dance-off with sister Solange, feature with husband Jay-Z, and overall tribute to HBCU culture.
While Beyonce’s harmonies echoed throughout the dessert, her new dance routine captivated audiences worldwide. Astounding the Coachella crowd with over one hundred dancers and marching band members fully doused in Beyonce’s iconic yellow. It is no wonder at all that Beyonce continues to stay on top.
These three women have completed a triumphant week rolling out incredible works of art that have all united woman throughout the world. Not one of them taking away or outshining another it is hoped that music lovers will be able to see a continued unity among female artists as it will do nothing sort of bringing more enjoyable content to the masses.
