MLK Day of Service 2017

On Monday, January 16, 2017, about 100 VILLA employees participated in the 22nd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service at Girard College in Philadelphia, PA. This was expected to be the largest MLK Day of Service in the nation, with more than 145,000 volunteers participating in some 1,800 projects.

This year, we worked with non-profit organizations Stop Hunger Now and Philabundance to prepare meals for families in need and disaster relief victims. We also built book shelves while sorting and organizing over 18,000 donated books to support the Free Library of Philadelphia’s Read by 4th literacy initiative and the City of Philadelphia’s new Pre-K program.

VILLA promotes year-round service and civic engagement at all levels of the company. Over the last 15 years, we have observed MLK Day of Service as a day to give back to the communities we serve. For us, MLK Day of Service is truly “A Day On, Not A Day Off!”
