In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, VILLA joined efforts across the U.S. to raise awareness and share information on the disease. We held moderated panel discussions in Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, and Wilmington to discuss the issues around breast cancer including, but not limited to the importance of mammograms/early detection, causes for the increased prevalence of breast cancer in urban communities, and progress being made toward finding a cure.
Panelists included health professionals, breast cancer advocates, breast cancer survivors, and individuals who have lost family members to breast cancer. Partners included the American Cancer Society and the Susan G. Komen, the largest and best-funded breast cancer organization in the United States.
Our VILLA Detroit Team also participated in the Breast Cancer 5K on October 8, 2016!
